Gothic Indeed

Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is a very gothic poem. It has all the elements of something you would see in any gothic type writing, it's very dark and gloomy. The only "happy" part of the poem is at the beginning before the Albatross is killed, and that turns dark in no time. When the ghost ship appeared the first thing that popped into my head was the ghost ship in Pirates of the Caribbean which is super dark and depressing looking. When I think gothic, I think black, death, depression, horror and this poem definitely had all these elements.
