The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

The poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner I believe could definitely be called a "gothic" poem. It was a very dark and gloomy poem that also had other characteristics of being gothic. It speaks about darkness, death, wickedness, pain, and agony. Hell is mentioned in the poem and a difficulty when trying to look on to heaven and pray because of wicked whispers. Throughout the whole poem words used for description are dark, gray, dread, and lifeless. To me this poem was nothing but dark and gloomy therefore I would classify it as a Gothic poem.
